How Gift Match works
Every recommendation on Find My Gift comes from one shared engine. Same answers and the same catalog always produce the same results. We call the score a Gift Match Score — never “AI recommendations.”
Not AI. Not machine learning.
There is no generative AI, no chatbot, and no machine-learning model in how we match gifts. Products are human-curated with structured attributes. The engine is deterministic and explainable: it applies clear rules you can understand, not a black box.
Three layers of matching
- Hard filters — budget ceiling, recipient, delivery country, age appropriateness, availability, and exclusion rules. Fail any gate and the gift is out, no matter how charming it looks.
- Preference scoring — interests, personality, lifestyle, occasion, aesthetic, relationship, and gift style. Weighted overlap between what you told us and what the product is for. This is the core of the match.
- Delight boosters — small, deterministic nudges (for example giftable, great value, or personalized) that only matter between otherwise-equal gifts. Commission is never a booster.
What the Gift Match Score means
The engine’s raw score is shown as a friendly 0–100% Gift Match, with a confidence read and truthful reasons drawn from the attributes that actually scored. A high score means a strong fit to what you described — not fabricated precision, and not “AI magic.”
Prices appear as a USD range (for example $30 – $60), so the number you see reflects a band, not fake exactness.
Quizzes produce attributes — never products
The Gift Finder is front-end only. Your answers become a structured profile (who it’s for, budget, interests, occasion, and so on). That profile goes into the same engine that powers the rest of the site. The quiz never invents a gift list on its own.
Trust beats commission
We rank by Best Match → Best Product → Best Value. Affiliate revenue is never a ranking factor — not even as a tie-breaker. Catalog buy links are not currently tagged, so we do not earn a commission when you use them. Read the full affiliate disclosure.
